Ratings & Reviews

  1. xuxuxush's rating of the film Song of the Exile

A touching and thoughtful examination of Hong Kong's fluid, transnational cultural identity in the 1960s, which also opens up postcolonial possibilities of reconciliation between China and Japan. With regards to the latter, this may resonate with Hou's Café Lumière (2003), which explores relations between Japan and Taiwan post-WWII. Cheung is excellent as usual. I only wish the image quality were better.
