SPARTAN

A “lone wolf” U.S. government secret agent, Scott (Kilmer), is assigned the task of rescuing the kidnapped daughter of a high ranking government figure, only to discover along the way a larger, more sinister plot.

A underrated gem from one of the great pens of the American theater, David Mamet’s tightly-plotted political thriller is as lean and muscular as its writer-director’s prose. As propulsive in its dialogue as it is in its action beats, Spartan is a film driven by singular, syncopated rhythms.
