1.5 Contains dialogue so trite it makes you want to scream. Guy Pearce, Minnie Driver, and Pierce Brosnan deserve more substantive stuff. The movie would ultimately have us believe that male college professors are never predatory; it's those pesky female students who have to be fended off. The best part of the film is when the daughter denies knowing her father. Let's write a script with that as a starting point.
Guy Pearce revisits his breakout role in Memento with a movie that has absolutely none of the brains or the brawn of the 2000 classic. Brosnan as the passive-aggressive small-town cop is almost risible (not his fault though; just miscast).
