To be contemplative and meditative doesn't always to be relaxa, cool, fresh or pacific movies. Even the barren life and nothingness like this butterss the very fecund of spiritual mindedness and solace so well.
A post-apocalyptic environment. A man walking among forgotten symbols. Remains of civilization stand still, as if they were unwilling to dissappear. They are falling apart, but the decline gives them a new dimension of beauty. It's a little bit too quirky at times, but it's also one of the few films that can make me cry in its first 5 minutes. Quite rough around the edges, but still an intriguing debut feature. The visuals succeed in creating a surreal and mysterious mood that persists throughout, and although it's not exactly fast-paced or action-packed the characters and the world are enough to carry it through without it getting boring.
