Ratings & Reviews

  1. Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Spring Awakens

Title says it all: adolescent girls start to hear the hum of birds and bees in their ears in rural Japan. Not necessarily up Naruse's alley, though the insanely controlling parents of the girl are very much the director's type. The scenes are all light-dappled outdoors, but the young characters are confused and in turmoil. Definitely minor, if not without its pleasures.
