This is the first feature by Lee Kwang-mo. His minimalist visual aesthetic has been inspired by the work of Hou, Tarkovsky and Kiarostami. Lee's long-shot, long-take compositions are replete with symbolic and rhetorical significance; their aim is to involve us as active observers of the events. He also makes striking use of color and landscape. This is a very important film in recent history of Korean cinema.
