"What's Vin like when I'm not around?" - "He don't like people. People don't like him. Except cat, and you. Why you like him?"
Pretty much everyone involved in making this film has done better things, but for the sum of its parts, St. Vincent is still great.

Bill Murray plays Bill Murray. For all its attempts this film fails to deliver more than what is essentially a formulaic and tiresomely unmemorable Murray vehicle.
The story of the grumpy hermit (Murray, no stranger to this type of role) befriending a young boy who reconnects him to life has been used and over used in films and books. But this film is worth watching even just for Naomi Watts as the Russian prostitute. She is a hoot!
Assholes don't always deserve to be fixed and forgiven. Just saying.
Contrived, calculating, obvious, hollow. A saint without a soul.
if you have a film, if you no-one else will do it, and if you can find him, then maybe you can hire Bill Murray.
