A genuine curio. Based on a mid-60's play, it seems very sincere and much effort went into recreating London streets in a Paris studio, and one can only assume Harrison's and Burton's gay portrayals were based on their personal observations from that closeted time. Wonder what it'd be like if filmed today, or even if such a story could work today?
One of the worst pictures I've ever had the misfortune to see. Misconceived on every level and downright insulting to anyone in a queer relationship. Burton and Harrison couldn't have been more miscast without even an ounce of chemistry between them leaving the viewer wondering how these two characters could have ever been attracted to one another in the first place. Just god awful even within time period contraints.
