Ratings & Reviews

  1. Dries's rating of the film Street Mobster

  2. Alexandre Roy's rating of the film Street Mobster

Classic yakuza movie about a fresh out of jail street punk who tries to climb the ladder of crime without respecting anyone, with bloody results. Fukasaku's style in this one is extremely dynamic, bordering on frenetic, mirroring his uncontrollable protagonist.

  3. Nick Schwab's rating of the film Street Mobster

Stagnant in emotion and senseless in its schlocky outlook, this Japanese film is a mid-quality Grindhouse film and has an atypical seedy feel. Street Mobster may be sure of itself in its aesthetic but carries little interest or investment into the proceedings and feels repetitive and non-involving. Not as witty and fun as Fukasaku's other just-as-trashy works, like Battle Royale, either.

  4. Jeremy Ashlyn's rating of the film Street Mobster

A crackling good film; anarchic with mesmerizing camera work. Best facial expressions this side of Clint Eastwood.
