A good bit of fun. Ultimately doesn't go all the way with the kooky ideas that get set up, and just ends up playing it safe. But, despite this, still an entertaining ride that will likely go under the radar for most people.
Would normally get two stars, but I respect the fact it was made for such a small budget and it gives off the vibe no compromises were made. Not great, not terrible but worth a watch. Now please go back to making things like NARC, Joe Carnahan.
I've always been a fan of Carnahan's ability to do meditative thrillers like Narc or The Grey, and then do a full throttled reverse like Smokin' Aces or, in this case, Stretch. It's not the best, but Stretch is really fun. Patrick Wilson finally gets the starring role he deserved. Stretch's style is easily going to divide audiences down the middle.
Despite some light bumps on the first act, it builds very nicely towards a rewarding ending. It could be a cult classic if Carnahan found a way to assertively tackle all the pertinent subjects of the movie.
