Sun Choke is a film that feels not just like the fracture in psych of its character in style, but also in its telling. Often mysterious in its narrative, it works more as a downward spiral from the head space of its main character, one who is driven by confusion and compulsion, than a psychoanalysis of her. It's like David Lynch directed a horror film: enigmatic and detached, but still quite fascinating.
The first twenty minutes are superb. Then the movie degenerates to asinine levels: massive doses of torture (porn) inflicted by a mentally challenged woman. This ain't a modern day Repulsion. It is just repulsive. Cresciman should learn from Goodnight Mommy, a film that deals with similar themes in a much more convincing manner.
