Teenage girls in state care. Or was it life behind the Iron Curtain? Juli Nyakó's staggeringly beautiful face in a hyperrealistic frame.

  4. gongoina's rating of the film Sunday Daughters

It's so redundant to place a rather long take of the 400 Blows screening. This is not a subset of the former.

  5. Samuel T.'s rating of the film Sunday Daughters

If I was forced to watch only Hungarian film from the latter half of the 20th century, I'd be content. The first maybe 8 minutes of this play out like Kieślowski's TALKING HEADS, but from the perspective of young delinquent ladies. It's pretty clear here there is no hope. In the realm of Juli's world, perseverance leads to surrender. And always will. (4.5)
