Ratings & Reviews

  1. Erick Gonzalez's rating of the film Super 8

This fantasy adventure was mixed together to be very uneven, but rather enjoyable. This Steven Spielberg produced and J.J. Abrams directed movie created a film about a film, but felt like two movies in one. One being about the kid's world and the other being about the audience's expectations. Abram really accumulates emotion through the camera so well. "Super 8" is a wonderful film for its great style of filmmaking.

  3. Leonor's rating of the film Super 8

good soundtrack, zombie homemade films, angry aliens, cemeteries, explosions and crashes... - yes, yes, yes. (a little more alien parts would be great, though; also, that last scene with Joe letting go of the necklace was so Spielberg'y, aw.)

  4. Corriel's rating of the film Super 8

    Good 1980s zeigeist feelings. (3.5)

  5. The Cinema Doll's rating of the film Super 8

My favorite part was the movie the children made during the end credits lol

  6. Elif's rating of the film Super 8

jjjabr ams gets everything wrong about cinema and about life

  7. Aaken's rating of the film Super 8

It's all about the days of yore and the beautiful memories. Abrams shows lots of sensitivity and skills when he films the young teenagers. Dialogues pop up like candy, the acting is just fantastic. Then the plot had to involve an alien and that's when things get daft - E.T. ... Spielberg... oh yes, he was the producer... Nonetheless a very touching film about innocence of childhood and a golden time in movie-making.

  9. Emily Sirko's rating of the film Super 8

I probably would've liked this a whole lot more if I hadn't seen Stranger Things first tbh!! Clearly ST was inspired by this among a thousand other things but ST did it so much better!! Love the monster-empathy tho.

  10. Thomas Dods's rating of the film Super 8

I don't care that it's a throwback to Spielberg. I like Spielberg! Great youthful energy from this blockbuster which is primarily focused on the friendship of the group of kids and their search for happiness. It's actually a bit of a shame when the alien is revealed towards the end.... Also like any film which is about the joy of cinema itself.

  11. Chris's rating of the film Super 8

strong beginning but drops off and turns too cliche and predictable

  12. Sara Gaspar's rating of the film Super 8

3-. Almost 2 stars because of the ending.

  13. Henri de Corinth's rating of the film Super 8

Creatively and intellectually bankrupt idea of 'nostalgia.' The zombie movie that the kids make in the film is more fun -and in several ways more interesting- than the film itself.

  14. cinegeek.de's rating of the film Super 8

  15. Mark O. Stack's rating of the film Super 8

E.T. + The Goonies w/ a little Jaws thrown in there. The kids are all pretty good actors and I'll never say "no thank you" when Kyle Chandler shows up in something.

  16. T-Cruise's rating of the film Super 8

    jj abrams always so bland

  21. antibody's rating of the film Super 8

the scene at the train tracks is the realest scene about filmmaking ever shot

  22. bouvardila's rating of the film Super 8

  23. Minna's rating of the film Super 8

    (2.5) I was pleasantly surprised

  24. Des Horne's rating of the film Super 8

From where exactly in film history are the filmmakers mining this nostalgia for white suburban living? It's got to be an invention of theirs.
