Ratings & Reviews

  1. msmichel's rating of the film Swing

A young French boy finds himself enchanted by the Roma community first because of his wish to learn to play guitar and later for his growing friendship/attraction to a young Roma girl named Swing. Though the film doesn't rank amongst the best of Gatlif's rich body of work it does weave a spell over the viewer with its genuine warmth in performance and wonderful music score throughout.

A boyish gipsygirl, who shows him nature and takes him to exuberant mucic evenings whilst wearing a vintage addidas jacket? Sold. Also, gypsies.

  6. nematomaranka's rating of the film Swing

I adored the scene where the boy is jumping on his bed. Gatlif penetrates into reality and I suddenly find myself remembering who I was and what I want now. passion. interest in life.
