Ratings & Reviews

  1. Thomas Dods's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War

Great mainstream war movie, borrowing bits from all of the finest Holywood ones. Some great set pieces, violent in places but not gratuitous and an emotional story about the two brothers. Overlooked.

  2. Nick Schwab's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War

The epic, realistic battles scenes are intense. However, it also has many moments of soap-opera, as the effectively dramatic scenes are only strewn throughout. There's some great character twists far in the film that make it stand out from its Saving Private Ryan ilk, but the character's feel static or are single-minded monomaniacs. Therefore, it's as memorable in some elements as it's forgettable in others.

  3. Maudy Puteri Agusdina's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War

The first korean actor i have crush with : Jang Dong Gun.

  4. Junda Mane's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War

Suffers from spouts of operatic drama, but when it's narrative is focused and concise it's as riveting as war epics get. Terrific performances from it's two leads and some incredible battle scenes are the highlights here.

  5. Sean's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War

loses points for being over dramatic but what Korean drama isn't. Great battle scenes and acting.

  6. LaHaine's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War

Great great war film. Very touching especially the ending. Great performances all round. A David Lean like epic should be watched by everyone.

  7. Zach Closs's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War

It's remarkable how incredibly touching it is while constantly lapsing into gushy melodrama; the film wins you over with the same sort of earnest emotionality found in Hong Kong cinema and early Hollywood, which gives the unflinchingly realistic battle sequences (that blow "Saving Private Ryan" out of the water) even more dramatic punch. And what a score!

  8. NoOneJones's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War

Truly a great film, BUT it spoils a number of things with far fetched combat scenarios (you probably don't have time to look around the battlefield when a guy is trying to break your neck with a rifle). This is the only thing holding it back from a perfect rating. This also unfortunately gives the impression that the powerful and tear jerking final scenes belong in a better film.

  9. VENIMOS LOS JODIMOS Y NOS FUIMOS's rating of the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War
