Ratings & Reviews

  1. dionysus67's rating of the film That Night in Varennes

Unjustly underrated period film about the collective effervescence of the French Revolution. Like most productions with an international cast it risks coordination. Its abstention from dramatic excesses delivers an intensely dialogic film with carefully crafted shots and with a stellar cast that traverses the parodic, the human and the tragic with admirable command. Sheer excellence, cinematic and philosophical!

  2. Stanislav Lukianov's rating of the film That Night in Varennes

"Stagecoach" meets "Barry Lyndon" meets "Novecento" and that's great!

  3. Landen Celano's rating of the film That Night in Varennes

About as entertaining as a 1700s horse-drawn road trip movie can be, thanks to Marcello Mastroianni.

  4. Daniel S.'s rating of the film That Night in Varennes

Nearly as verbose as THE TERRACE shot two years before but a lot more interesting as the main characters of the film are Casanova and Rétif de la Bretonne. Furthermore, Marcello Mastroianni drives his wagon as if it were a Ferrari. a DVD zone curious ones.
