Jodie Foster gives a powerful performance in this incredible picture that forces you to look at how fucked up society and the legal system is when it comes to rape and how independent women are viewed in a male dominated system. Kelly McGillis is a total badass here too as she takes on male bullshit.
One of the more moving movies I've seen recently (less the terrible 80s-centric score, but they can't all be perfect), The Accused is a poignant and well-acted legal revenge drama. Jodie Foster won her first Oscar for it, and it's easy to see why.
I love to see Jodie Foster playing less than sophisticated. This reminded me of a really well-done Lifetime movie, and I'm all about the sexy female lawyer with a killer work ethic & kind eyes (Hilary Swank would've played this role today & made it too butch), but ultimately I'm way too vulnerable to watch this movie.
