  1. Aaken's rating of the film The Alphabet Murders

A big mess and no direction. The film uses Agatha Christie's novel as an excuse for comedy, with miscast Randall who seems to have patterned his characterisation of Poireau after Sellers' Clouzot. Nothing much remains from the original book, which in itself isn't a real problem if Tashlin had found a real tone for his film. The cast is wasted, and the 'French' music is annoying.
