The Animals and the People of PetrovDirected byJiří Trnka
2.5 stars. Trnka was a master at drawing roots and bracken, but I am thankful that for most of his career he consigned his two-dimensional artistry to (beautiful and picturesque) illustration work, since it was in puppet craft that his genius truly shone on film. This is fun though and like a teeny-weeny 'Fantastia/ Peter and the Wolf' hybrid. Using a hole in a leaf as a frame is a lovely innovation. Nice color tones
