What are people saying?

  • Holyphool's rating of the film The Ball at the Anjo House

An elegant, magical and very emotional family melodrama as a patrarch tries to save his mansion, his family, servants and various marital situations before they lose it all. Dominated by the gentle, radiant Setsuko Hara, this is truly an exceptionally- made film that has lain dormant for years - and is so full of cinematic surprises that are in turns comical and very moving, climaxing in the famous ball scene.
