Lesser-known MGM produced gangster movie of the early 30's. The story focuses on the Fitzpatricks brothers, both policemen and on Jean Harlow, the no-good girlfriend of Ed Fitzpatrick. The last shootup reminded me of the one Lawrence Kasdan shot in Wyatt Earp. Very good surprise, highly recommended.
A masculine battle between cops and gangsters, who are in this film regarded as similars: reckless and caring little for justice and society. And very stylefully filmed too. Beautifully composed photography and extensive use of clever angles and slow movement of the camera to support the storytelling. It finishes off with an interesting, musical-like epic battle that emphasizes the ironic nature of the film.
