Ratings & Reviews

  1. William's rating of the film The Big Crimewave

Immaculately made, original film with a veneer of innocence that is nevertheless highly disturbing. One of the only modern movies I can recall that hearkens to the Kuchar bros. and their aesthetic.

  2. msmichel's rating of the film The Big Crimewave

'...but from the north comes...' A piece of Winnipeg whimsy and madness marked the debut film from director John Paizs that is definitely an unsung piece of classic Canadiana. Eva Kovacs was just great as the young girl fascinated by her parent's filmmaking lodger. Like the later films of Guy Maddin the Winnipeg esthetic is evident with the common denominator of George Toles. Just begging for rediscovery.

  3. Blumes's rating of the film The Big Crimewave

  4. Adam Whybray's rating of the film The Big Crimewave

A wonderful, playful, giddy poe-faced film! I'm utterly in love with it and you could be too!
