  1. Alvise Narduzzi's rating of the film The Birth of Sake

  2. naive3's rating of the film The Birth of Sake

beautifully crafted and slow-paced film with an interesting view into daily life at a traditional sake brewery. definitely would recommend.

  3. msmichel's rating of the film The Birth of Sake

If Shirai's film was a glass of sake one would refer to it as dry and without flavour. When it spends its time on the creation of sake it brings to mind the better films of the ethnographic movement. When it spends time on the human element it ceases to be interesting at all especially in comparison to many rich examples in the current 'food' genre of documentaries. Disappointing.

  4. Lauren Burrell's rating of the film The Birth of Sake

  5. Mugino's rating of the film The Birth of Sake

A worthy companion to "Jiro Dreams of Sushi". The eloquence of craftsmanship goes beyond a mere appreciation for the skills, labours and sacrifices involved in creating something magnificent. It's a reminder to be more mindful in our easy consumption of beautiful things.
