What are people saying?

  • Anthony De Luca's rating of the film The Black Angel

2.7 Visually impressive in places (as you'd expect from Ishii) with his trademark rain-soaked/neon-lit city streets and some great long-takes, but ultimately this is paper-thin revenge thriller. Delighted to see some cool-as-hell hitwomen sticking it to the yakuza – it's just a shame that Ishii has to drag his female protagonists through absolute degrading hell before getting them to the end credits.
