An other classy late 60s British horror film which takes place in a beautiful victorian setting. Peter Cushing always knows how to play his role with seriousness and substance even if the storyline is relatively weak. A charming but average film in the genre. The monster looks hilarous. With touches of humor and a nice dynamic. Recommended if you are into Amicus and Hammer films.
If you can picture a Hammer movie stripped it of all style, atmosphere and charm, The Blood Beast Terror is what you'd end up with. Peter Cushing allegedly stated this was his worst movie and its not hard to see why. There's no mystery or spark to it, just Cushing himself and a brief glimpse at a great-looking monster.
