THE BOOK OF MARY

Mary, an 11-year-old girl, is experiencing difficult times. Her parents are separating and her whole world is sifting. She tries to console herself by immersing herself in her book, her music and her dancing.

In this short companion piece to Jean-Luc Godard’s Hail Mary, his frequent collaborator Anne-Marie Miéville looks at divorce through the frustrated viewpoint of the affected child. Warm and understated, this is no mere side offering to the JLG main course, but a fulfilling meal in its own right.
