  1. kartina obskura's rating of the film The Burrowers

  2. Zach Closs's rating of the film The Burrowers

A middling western-horror crossover; muddled and forgettable. Some interesting creatures and ideas at play, but stock characters and overly familiar narrative beats too.

  3. Nick Schwab's rating of the film The Burrowers

A fine mixture of creature-feature horror and a western, The Burrowers is one of the more entertaining and intriguing mashups of the aught decade. Despite some themes of unity, it's mainly melodramatic, but creates tension, suspense, and many characters that are likable, yet are developed enough to be flawed, as well. It's also no-holds-barred in the horror, as all characters feel fair game for the slaughter.

  4. J. O.'s rating of the film The Burrowers

Although the overall production quality may fall into what some consider an "independent" look, "The Burrowers" is both a solid western and a creepy monster movie. Despite the rather small budget (considering its both a period piece and a practical effect-driven monster horror) director Petty managed to pull together a well-shot and suspenseful little film. Only problem is the ending being strangely untied.
