The Butterfly is set in the not-too distant future, in a Korea which looks only vaguely familiar. Acid rain and lead poisoning have created new dangers for the population, while the outbreak of a mysterious virus has perversely resulted in a new tourist industry.

Really good indie sci-fi drama. It suffers somewhat from the limited budget but the movie still conveys big emotions and big issues coupled with solid performances. Keep an open mind and you will be pleased.

In Seung-wook Moon's film Nabi, a lyrical conceptual narrative set in the near future reveals that such a virus is found near a construction site in a suburban development outside of Seoul. Anna Kim, whose life has been haunted by a miscarriage, returns to South Korea from Germany in pursuit of exposure to the virus. An evocative work.
