**1/2. Above average giallo well directed by Sergio Martino. No poetry here but one finds in this film all the elements of the classic giallo. Internationalism (London, Athens, Greek islands and Tokyo by phone), sharp-edged knives, glass and detectives, blonde women who disappear (tragically and bloodily) after 30 minutes and many suspects who die before the guilty murderer is finally found. Almost already forgotten.
After being dissapointed with Berberian Sound studio nothing surpasses going to the roots. Watching an actual giallo with everything you expect from the genre: haunting score, euro-fashion, pretty girls, plot twists that keep you guessing. Hilton is a solid lead actor and makes some of the most far-fetched plot twists not very distracting.
