Ratings & Reviews

  1. Rafael Fonseca's rating of the film The Ceremony

A documentary on sadomasochism without a single shot of nudity. Outstanding, no? Instead of shattering eroticism by being raw and un-prude, this showcases and preserves its esoteric sensuality. Alternating interviews with footage of Sessions, it allures and intrigues. Never thought I'd find interesting a 84 year old(!) dominatrix dissert on love, trust, power, life. Lovely cinematography to boot. |DocLisboa15 [cont.]

  2. Dada Kubin's rating of the film The Ceremony

A peek into the “haute” S/M culture in France with the very charismatic Catherine Robbe-Grillet leading the show. The S/M sessions are magnificently “staged”, they really play out like theatre pieces. I would've loved to see more of them. Otherwise the document is traditional talking heads type but thanks to the charisma and openness of all interviewees, it works.

  3. Eugene Kotlyarenko's rating of the film The Ceremony

the worst type of talking heads documentary. endless rambling from some incredibly boring people...interminable
