Ratings & Reviews

  1. Terry_Moby's rating of the film The Challenge

... and a half. Unusual film with a weak story but a strong subject (the clash of cultures). Scott Glenn's performance is irritating at times but I guess it's intentional.

  2. Lights in the Dusk's rating of the film The Challenge

Unlike previous collaborator Joe Dante, Frankenheimer misses the irreverent humour of his John Sayles text, creating an odd, awkward tonality, where B-movie adventure is approached with a Kurosawa intensity. As such, it's a clunky variation of the standard Frankenheimer narrative of a man forced into action by a corrupt system, albeit, redeemed by the startling action sequences + gratuitous violence of its final act.
