Too much screaming towards the last quarter. I like the general idea and the Christmas setting, but felt that 98% of any character development was attempted on only one character. It often works in horror films, but since the development wasn't completed it didn't work here.
Almost entirely illiterate when it comes to film grammar. 0 fun when it comes to the deaths. Not at all scary and telegraphs every plot development 10 minutes ahead of time. This probably deserves 1 star but I just don't care enough to hate it.
Talk about an heir apparent to Kubrick not only in style and execution but in the film's entire feel, giving us a gorgeous cinematography to capture the stark background of this holiday setting and music at a level worthy of Bernard Herrmann a la "Psycho". The children that are the title's namesake are equally as horrifying, completely turning on their adult counterparts in brutal ways. See it, worth every frame.
