Ratings & Reviews

  1. Nick Schwab's rating of the film The City of Violence

Bad, ill-conceived comedy coupled with stale action scenes that aren't very exciting due to being poorly choreographed, a spatial blur of flying fists and limbs, with nothing memorable physical wise, nor are the set pieces ever tense and suspenseful. Perhaps even worse is that the cheesy melodrama outshines the action, as it at least has twists and turns and quasi-emotion, even if it's still generic.

  2. Mathias Palmberg's rating of the film The City of Violence

Yet another gangstermovie from South Korea concerning loyalty and brotherhood paired with over the top action sequences and some goofy comedy. It´s a wild ride with good acting and stellar action set pieces. What it lacks in originality it makes up for in kinetic fighting.

  3. Federico Di Folco's rating of the film The City of Violence

  4. Mark Ayala's rating of the film The City of Violence

Probably my favorite straight-forward action film of the last decade. Excellent choreography with no CGI and featuring two tremendous rumbles of two men versus packs of men and women. Helps that film is very funny too. Easy to find in an excellent edition from Dragon Dynasty that goes for less than five dollars on Amazon.
