  4. JJJ's rating of the film The Cocoanuts

My least favorite early Marx Brothers film. There's some tremendous one-liners in this one, but that's about it. This one still feels stagy and slowed down by the technical limits of early sound production.

  5. SpacePirate's rating of the film The Cocoanuts

Decent first outing. Some of the film suffers from pacing issues, but is a lot better than some of their late 30s work

  6. Rafael Ramz III's rating of the film The Cocoanuts

Excelente, como todo lo de los hermanos Marx.

  8. AKFilmFan's rating of the film The Cocoanuts

While it has many great moments of comedy, the first film by the Marx Brothers suffers from a static camera, uninteresting subplots, and too many musical numbers. But it's hilarious when the Brothers are by themselves to do their thing.

  9. MarcH's rating of the film The Cocoanuts

A great treasure...filmed at Paramount's brooklyn studio, and preserving the famous stage show with its Irving Berlin score. Also a great introduction to early sound musicals.

  10. catch_33's rating of the film The Cocoanuts

The Marx Brothers first film is a slightly unbalanced one with not nearly enough of their antics and setups that would come much later. There are some genuinely funny moments but for the most part the film is trapped in useless plot points, side characters and irritating musical numbers. Its as if Hollywood had no idea what to do with them, and with good reason.

  11. Matt's rating of the film The Cocoanuts

You gotta love the Marx bros.

"Oh Senior Pastrami, what is the first number?" "Number One!"
