Ratings & Reviews

  1. Steve G.'s rating of the film The Deep

He's no Steven Seagull, is he.

  2. vannorden's rating of the film The Deep

Plain naturalism. A realistic succesion of events only offering the question "Why?". Why can someone survive beeing that long in water? Is he a seal? Was it god? A little preying question, but it's also a cheap question.

  3. Justine Vernera's rating of the film The Deep

3+1 for the fact that I was watching it while actually living on the Westman islands. Decently told story.

  4. Emil's rating of the film The Deep

    Amazing story, not film...

  5. Carlos Filipe Freitas's rating of the film The Deep

The story was presented without sensationalism, providing good cinematic moments without ever losing direction or falling in doubtful strategies. Review and Rating: http://alwayswatchgoodmovies.blogspot.pt/2013/06/the-deep-2012.html

  6. Lucky Luciano's rating of the film The Deep

No aspect is given any depth and it feels more like a bored student's homework than a work of passion and interest.

  7. Matt Richards's rating of the film The Deep

A remarkable tale of survival shot largely in the open sea. While the visuals are impressive I found the story not that engaging until the final turn when it becomes the tale of a man asking the hard question 'Why Me?'. His follow-ups with the rest of the tight-knit community were handled with beautiful restraint. Similar 'sense-of-place' is also explored in the recent Eldfjall. 3 stars

  8. J. O.'s rating of the film The Deep

Behind the facts of the miraculous true story of survival in extreme conditions and the extraordinary strength summoned by the unfortunate Gulli, this film is primarily a meditation on life and the will to live. That being said, it rarely crossed into an unfamiliar territory. It would have been nice if the thoughts racing in Gulli's head came out a little more, post-trauma. But in the end, it was gorgeous and sweet.
