Sweet and less aggressively nasty than most high school movies. Mae Whitman and Robbie Ammell have buckets of chemistry and the film is consistently, genuinely funny without being lowbrow. Just about everything anyone could ask of a teen comedy!
Wearing it's John Hughes influence proudly on it's sleeve, this high school comedy may not reinvent the genre, but like Mean Girls, it takes the elements & breathes life into them. With a great performance by Mae Whitman, the film treats its characters seriously while having fun w/ what's happening to them. People may knock it for not being an insta-classic, but I'd take a film with Whitman over Lohan any day.
Boh
It has its funny moments, but good God am I impressed with how this movie hit every single cliche in the high school rom-com book. If this movie were an ice cream flavor it'd be more basic than vanilla. It'd be water.
