Ratings & Reviews

  1. Loz Loory's rating of the film The Dybbuk

2.5 On the long side. Unnecessarily slowly paced and dirge-like. Great Dance with Death scene. Nice elements of German Expressionism in the skewed tombstones, receding diagonals of crowds, and looming shadows. Was glad Leah didn't have to marry the drip, but it sure took a heavy sacrifice on her part to break it off ;)

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film The Dybbuk

  3. Pawelito's rating of the film The Dybbuk

Screened as part of The 9th Polish Film Festival KINOTEKA at the West London Synagogue the tragic love story of Leyele and Khanon enchants with expressionistic lighting, bedazzling choreography and haunted atmosphere of a small town dwelled by Jewish community. Next week, the same time and place, based on the same S. Ansky's play: The Vow (Tkies Kaf) by Henryk Szaro http://www.kinoteka.org.uk/movie/the-vow-tkies-kaf

  4. Dzimas's rating of the film The Dybbuk

Sounds like this would be a good movie to watch after seeing the Coen's Serious Man.

  5. Kai White's rating of the film The Dybbuk

Pretty interesting story, and it's not like it was badly acted or directed, so why was this so boring?

  6. McSmith's rating of the film The Dybbuk

I found the play unexpectedly compelling; this adaptation -- not so much.
