Ratings & Reviews

  1. captainfez's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

So much scenery-chewing that I'm amazed any was left to blow up. Far more enjoyable than it should be.

  2. Robert Peters-Gehrke's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

Oh, the honourable German soldier, believing in honour and fellowship, of course not antisemitic... one of the favourite fairytale figures of old-school war films. So, if you ignore the naive stereotypes, the dragging direction and the absurd love story, you get some fine acting vignettes but surely not much more.

  3. Henri's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

    Film d'aventure plaisant et efficace.

  4. Marc Saffar's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

Dernier film de Sturges. Maîtrise totale du propos et du style, j'ai passé un très bon moment avec ce film au scénario original et, dans une facture classique, à la mise en scène efficace et néanmoins subtile.

  5. cyrildruesne's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

La mise en scène ne suffit pas à faire oublier que c'est un peu trop capillotracté.

  6. BUSTER TIERNEY's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

  7. azoulay's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

  8. Michael Zyx MH Claes's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

The return of the great adventure! === Le retour de la grande aventure! === Nobody's all good or all bad. An awesome American cast for the heroic Germans: Anthony QUAYLE, Robert DUVALL, Michael CAINE, very bad Himmler played by Donald PLEASENCE, 2 "good-bad" Irish Donald SUTHERLAND & Jenny AGUTTER & one "good-bad" South African Jean MARSH. The "good but less heroic" US soldiers being Larry HAGMAN & Treat WILLIAMS!

  9. Simon Reid's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

Hews so close to the great Ealing WWII propaganda film 'Went The Day Well?' that I was constantly reminded of that, and how much better it was. The subversion of having noble Germans and flawed villagers is interesting, but Sturges does little with it. Donald Sutherland as the Irish Nazi stooge is painful to watch, but at least Caine acquits himself well.

  10. ajdehany's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

It's like a clip show of all the best/worst bits of all war films ever. Someone somewhere along the way approved the script.

  11. Victor Gonzalez's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

A gripping Second World War plot. John Sturges last film.

  12. raggiodisole's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

Terrific, Michael Caine as a German? inspired

  13. tealeaves's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

  14. Steve G.'s rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

Mubi doesn't do nearly enough of this kind of thing for my liking. A rather late entry in the WW2 action stakes, as is made obvious by the slightly more balanced view of the German soldiers in this, it gets bogged down with the ridiculous Donald Sutherland / Jenny Agutter romance angle. But once Larry Hagman turns up and the shooting starts, this is great fun. Where Eagles Dare next, guys!

  15. mathew humphrey's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

i got half way through this. that young nymph , forget their names , took down the village idiot after 10secs of donald sutherlands "dreamy" irish vagabond swagger. erm..

  16. Stefan Drees's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

War as adventure game for men - this seems a little bit outdated even for the 1970s. It's no glorious chapter in John Sturges' filmography.

  17. Michael Clarke's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

Caine is great but this is not a classic WW11 thriller.

  18. Richmond Hill's rating of the film The Eagle Has Landed

A stolid sister to Went The Day Well? with the expected thick-ear violence undercut by the genteel locale. How fortunate Michael Caine's Nazi character was educated in England...
