Our take

Ken Russell’s fantastical, disturbing and whimsical “horror” film is inspired by a selection of Edgar Allen Poe’s stories, but is distinctly a Russell picture, complete with remote control gorillas and sex-doll orgies. This is a unique romp not easily forgotten.
