Academic and very old school, but sometimes has its ravishing beauty: the music with the landscapes, only, by itself, as in a Duras film, a tragedy made. Marianne Hoppe was a great actress and the the last part of the film is very impressive: a woman's strength behind her tortured soul. Also an unexpected indictment against conservatism, made against its time.
