  • Renton47's rating of the film The Family

When its focus is the trauma haunting the adult survivors this is a serviceable doco with a moving end; as a basic document of facts that happened in time it's barely competent. So clearly prone to hyperbole to serve its drama and, worse, becomes a major vessel for the misogyny that so often accompanies women criminals. Doesn't fault on an opportunity to call Anne a bitch while Bill remains all but a mystery.
