La fièvre monte à El Pao

Luis Buñuel Mexico, 1959

dionysus67's rating of the film The Fever Rises in El Pao

Another so-called 'lesser' Buñuel which reveals in various degrees the merits of the Spaniard. Immediately noticeable is the obsession with corporeality (given to us directly but also in editing elisions of great synechdochic value) and the admiration/contempt of the director towards deontological ethics and idealism. Impressive is also the aural materiality (footsteps, chains). Phillipe is great and Felix glows!
