Great pulp comic book science fiction with a lot of fun and inventiveness. Gary Oldman clearly have fun as the villain. A memorable action sequence is cross-cut with opera sung by a blue colored alien. Jean Pierre Gaultier's extreme costumes add to the fun, but Chris Tucker's annoying voice implode both my eardrums and the movie after his entry halfway through ruining an otherwise fun movie.
Long before Besson directed the monster bomb 'Valerian' he ripped off elements of the long running comic series and incorporated them into this much more satisfying sci-fi film. Blending futuristic action with satire and sarcasm 'The Fifth Element' is good fun and a good source of eye candy in both effects and casting. Many memorable moments throughout. Oldman's blend of Russ Perot and Bugs Bunny is classic.
