This film constantly walks the line between being a satire and being the very thing it's satirizing. Frankly, there's quite a number of clichéd moments and broad characterizations, particularly the titular protagonist (basically Jay Sherman in flesh and blood). But, it has enough clever and funny moments, so I was able to just go with the flow of it. It's not brilliant exactly, but it is very humorous.
