  2. The Heff's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

My first foray into Japanese films that's not manga or martial arts based...thoroughly enjoyed the plot amd with a good twist at the finishing...well worth a watch .

  3. Felicity Green's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Cleverly plotted and engagingly offbeat revenge tragicomedy. Watch out for a surprising twist...

  4. DrFirestone's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Interesting story presented in an equally interesting way, with a nice twist about halfway there, strong ending. Good cast and acting, beautifully shot. I'm sure this film will bring memories back to anyone who lived in Japan as a foreigner. Excellent!

  5. raggiodisole's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

quite easy to like, a little hard to warm to. themes accessible, plot flow sort of stodgy

  6. Stuart Metcalfe's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

  7. Magic Lantern Alison's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

  8. Sarah Pietsch's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Great film, accessible, quirky, interesting, building up the story gently by going backwards and forwards but not too much, it doesn't get confusing. Well worth a watch.

  9. Squashua's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

A disarmingly mellow little film that's about as close to a typical quirky American indie you're going to find in Japanese cinema, and yet still at a laidback distance from becoming the latter. It's a shade of high school detective, a smidgen Murakami, a daub of French New Wave and just generally comfortable in its own strolling pace. Fine handling of the difficult mid-narrative loopback too, could've been a bore

  10. Amyx's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Nice, lighthearted but nothing more. An easy day film to watch on your own,

  11. Animalia's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Interesting twist half way through. Soundtrack is a bit dull;)

  12. andi___'s rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

This has struck a lot of chords with me. A fantastic movie that will resonate with a lot of different people- especially those who happened to reside in Japan as foreigners. Some minor flaws or weak parts here and there, but they become irrelevant once the movie is finished. A beautiful work of art in many ways. 4.5/5

  13. Emily Davies's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Brilliant! The concept of being wary of foreigners is pretty universal. The character studies are great. I'm a sucker for Mike Leigh at the moment and this wasn't a million miles away from his stuff; bleak and devastatingly funny at the same time, and not afraid to show the characters as vulnerable fragile people

  14. Rebecca Cotton's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Funny at times thoroughly enjoyable. An interesting view on Japanese attitudes towards foreigners and very close to my own experiences in japan as a foreigner.

  15. Luca Prosperi's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Nice. A bit too light. Difficult to be taken seriously.

  16. Jo Rsmnn's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

Lots of nice twists and turns, though the story seems a little far-fetched and simplistic. Reflection on narrative and projection, on grief and on xenophobia. Despite upsetting ending, this is an overall light-hearted film, beautifully shot and well cast.

  17. Rita Cheng's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

  18. Marianna Madriz's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

    Interesting, but disappointingly forgettable.

  19. Adam Whybray's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

An unusually compassionate revenge thriller. Narratively loopy. Curious and fascinating.

  20. Howard Orr's rating of the film The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God In A Coin Locker

What starts off as a seemingly laidback character piece throws in an intriguing switcharoo involving reincarnation. It also contains an interesting depiction of the Japanese attitude towards foreigners.
