In 1968’s The American Cinema, Andrew Sarris listed director Rex Ingram as a “subject for further research” based solely on this 1921 masterpiece… Needless to say, this should probably be viewed at all costs when the opportunity arises—even if that means catching an outdoor screening of a projected DVD-R. Screening as part of Comfort Station’s “Silent Films and Loud Music” series with a live score by Sara Goodman and Reid Karris.
