  1. msmichel's rating of the film The Gift to Stalin

Old fashioned Russian melodrama that feels like a relic from a much earlier time. Performances are adequate but story of a young Jewish boy saved and hidden on the Kazak steppes by a railway man holds no surprises. Wedding scene quite moving momentarily.

  2. rafapetunia's rating of the film The Gift to Stalin

We liked the film! and mz girlfriend is Russian so she is always very critical how the soviet history is depicted, she liked it too. I can onlz recommend this film.

  3. El Biffo's rating of the film The Gift to Stalin

What's interesting about this film is not so much the story of a boy far from home during the war, but how different ethnicities inter-relate, in this case in the environment of Kazakhstan during WWII. A bit dreary, but culturally rich as well, and recommended for anyone who is interested in any of these aspects, or even just Kazakh life or history.
