CAN'T HELP IT to love it. Funny scriptwriting really help to make everything seems enjoyable. At first, Mansfield seems forced and more like Monroe's understudy but as the film goes on, she becomes more naturally well-acted and even give some very funny moments. Just like how i easily love Gentleman Prefer or Some Like It Hot, this one is very entertaining, a cute romcom with many laughs!
There's so much to love in this very cheesy rock n roll comedy by Tashlin. Sure, the acting is bad, especially Edmond O'Brien as the gangster, but there is so much great cinema here. The scene where the milkman's milk bottle explodes when Mansfield walks by, spontaneously ejaculating its contents is classic. The performances by rock n roll's greatest pioneers (Some of them appear to be so tweaked out on benzedrine
Garish, over the top, and great fun! O'Brien is the has-been gangster who wants to be back on the scene, Ewell, the has-been alcoholic agent and Mansfield, the über bombshell who will be turned into a superstar, whatever the tricks and cost - and despite her seemingly lack of talent. Filled with great musical acts of the era. Highly enjoyable for its cartoon-like spirit.
