  • Karthik's rating of the film The Girl from Chicago

The amateur theatricals style bad acting, the absurdly staccato continuity and the bizarre sound bridges, the difficulties with early sound and a bleak and pulpy storyline where Blacks are victimized by other Blacks, make for an incredible experience, as in some surreal Medieval Passion play crossed with a gangster film & a musical in this film made by the early Black film pioneer Oscar Micheaux.
