The original swedish trilogy has its ups and downs. Overall I'll agree that the first film is still the best, since it's the introduction to this underworld. The mystery surrounding the plot and the characters themselves is bigger. The other two movies try to delve deeper into Lisbeth's past, sometimes succeeding, other times not so much. But yes, Noomi Rapace was a revelation in this. Pretty nice, dark trilogy.
It effectively streamlines the plot of Stieg Larsson's bloated novel, but unfortunately Noomi Rapace - whose intense performances have easily been the best thing about these movies - is given little to do in this entry. That said, Lisbeth Salander's climactic trial was pretty satisfying after having come this far. Taken as a whole, an unremarkable film trilogy based on an unremarkable literary one.
